[EVENT REVIEW] - small is beautiful. October 2022 edition
Emmanuel Dudu's solo miniature art salon
Miniature as an art form is uncommon in Africa. With this miniature art series titled small is beautiful., Patrons MCAA is paving the way for miniature art to become mainstream. After 2 successful events run in 2022, it is safe to say that the narrative of miniatures is gaining acceptance in the African art collecting community.
Over the weekend of October 20th through the 23rd, 2022, Liquiditti and Patrons MCAA collaborated to host the second edition of small is beautiful. This four-day edition featured a body of miniature canvas works by Emmanuel Dudu. Emmanuel is a prolific artist whose paintings are extensively collected by the global art community, both in the primary and secondary art markets.
The private viewing - or collectors night as we often call it - of this art salon was met with a great crowd of collectors, artists, critics, and enthusiasts who had stimulating conversations over soothing jazz music, delicious hors d'oeuvres, and full-bodied grapes Italian red wine with hints of cherry and chilli-like flavours well balanced with a smooth finish.
The highlight of the official opening day of the exhibition on October 21, 2022, was being graced by Emmanuel Dudu himself, the exhibiting artist. We had a 1½ hour long Meet-the-Artist fireside chat whereby the audience was opportune to be in the presence of Emmanuel as he gave some insights as to what inspires him, how he creates his work, and how he chooses his characters and themes. It was also a great avenue for the audience to have their questions answered. It was an exhilarating experience for all those in attendance to hear firsthand from the artist the inspiration behind every piece of art displayed. For those in attendance, Emmanuel got to sign copies of their exhibition catalogue.
The highlight of October 22, 2022, was an interactive art discourse. This sponsored discourse covered a wide range of subjects, such as identifying talented artists, investing in the right art, red chips vs. blue chips, knowing when to sell, and introduction to Patrons MCAA art services. Patrons and the Liquiditti team also touched on the subject of "Art Collecting and Financing." Patrons and Liquiditti now offer an art financing option whereby collectors can purchase an art piece and pay later on favourable terms. If you would like to tap into this opportunity or learn more, kindly send an email to art@patronsmcaa.com.
